SHAH ALAM - Consuming haram food such as pork is not sinful and is forgiven in Islam if the act is unintentional.
Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad said that no further actions are required once such incidents were realised.
"If it is not intentional, it is forgiven. Once the food is already in the stomach, even performing the cleansing ritual (samak) is not possible. It is okay, nothing further needs to be done," he noted.
Previously, it was reported that a food delivery rider mistakenly delivered a pork-based meal to a Muslim household.
The situation worsened when the 'non-halal' food was eaten by the children of the family.
Shukri added that food rider workers were responsible for carrying or delivering only halal food if they were Muslim.
"The discussion at the ‘muzakarah’ level concluded that food delivery workers need to be careful and should only deliver halal food. They must be cautious because delivering haram food is considered haram.
"If they deliver a mix of halal and haram food, it is also considered an involvement in haram activities.
"Additionally, the public should be more careful when ordering food online as ensuring it is truly halal is obligatory," he said.
