PETALING JAYA - The parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, a 6-year-old child with autism who was murdered in Damansara Damai last December, were brought to the Magistrate's Court here at 8.50am today to be remanded.
The couple, wearing orange lockup attire, will be remanded to assist in the investigation of their eldest son's murder case.
The remand application will be heard before Magistrate Azura Mohd Saad.
On Dec 6 of last year, Zayn Rayyan was found dead in a stream near the Idaman Apartment area in Damansara Damai at 10pm, two days after he was reported missing.
The victim's body was discovered by a group of residents who were conducting a search operation. Many who participated in the operations since his first went missing claimed that they had already scoured the area prior and had not seen signs of his body in the vicinity.
On the day of his dissapearance, Zayn's mother said she was she was carrying the groceries and his schoolbag while her son tailed close behind. After climbing up a few steps of the staircase, she called out his name but there was no response.
It wasn’t until she turned around did she realise that Zayn had gone missing.
Zayn’s body was eventually found at a nearby river 200 metres away from the apartment and sent to Hospital Sungai Buloh for a post mortem.
Police confirmed that the victim was believed to have been murdered, as the autopsy results found injuries on the child's neck and body related to criminal acts.
