KAJANG - A 16-year-old male teenager who went missing during recreational activities at Bukit Broga on Monday was discovered dead on Tuesday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said that the victim was found by the rescue team at 2.50pm today.
"The teenager was located 100 metres from the entrance gate of Bukit Broga.
"He was unconscious and appeared to have fallen from a cliff approximately 10 metres deep.
"At 3.42pm, medical officers from the Health Ministry confirmed the victim's passing," he said in a statement today.
According to Wan Md Razali, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Operations Centre received an emergency call via MERS 999 regarding the lost teenager at Bukit Broga at 4.08pm on Monday.
"Based on preliminary information, the victim was separated from his guardian and two friends while participating in recreational activities.
"A team from the Semenyih Fire and Rescue Station, along with other assisting agencies such as the police, mountain guides, forest rangers, Malaysian Civil Defence Force, and Serdang Volunteer Fire Brigade, were dispatched to conduct search and rescue (SAR) operations," he added.
Wan Md Razali further detailed that the SAR operation spanned a distance of 1.5 kilometres.
"The 'sweeping searching' method was employed, covering the area from peak three to the Control Centre.
"The search on the first day was concluded at 2.30am," he said.
