JOHOR BAHRU - Chaos erupted at the Ulu Tiram Police Station early Friday morning when a brutal attack left two police officers dead and another critically injured.
Prior to the incident, a police officer on duty at the Seri Alam District Police Headquarters control centre, along with a colleague, received a distress call at 2.54am.
The call, made by a local male resident, reported that police officers were being assaulted at the Ulu Tiram Police Station.
Responding to the call, authorities dispatched a patrol vehicle to the scene.
Details surrounding the attack remain unclear.
It is understood that a constable died after being slashed on the back of the neck and head.
Another constable succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during the confrontation.
A corporal, also shot by the suspect, is currently fighting for his life in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
The attacker was reportedly neutralised during the incident.
Authorities recovered two weapons from the scene - a Walther P99 pistol and an HK MP5 submachine gun.
Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar has confirmed the incident.
