KUALA LUMPUR - A man died while another was injured in an incident where a large tree fell infront of the Shangri-La Hotel on Jalan Sultan Ismail, here, today.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in a statement said they received a distress call at about 2.10pm before firemen were deployed to the scene.
"There were 17 vehicles affected in the incident and the monorail track above was blocked by the tree branches.
"The incident also resulted in damage to public facilities, including the bus stop on the roadside.
"There are two victims. The first victim, a 47-year-old man, was confirmed dead by a Health Ministry personnel, while the second victim, a 26-year-old man who sustained injuries, is now in the care of the ministry's paramedics at the scene," the statement read.
The operational team from the Jalan Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) along with three auxilary stations namely the Titiwangsa BBP, Jalan Tun Razak BBP and Sentul BBP as well as FRT-4 and EMRS-4 vehicles, with a total of 27 other personnel of various ranks were deployed to the scene.
