Selangor FC CEO threatened with acid attack, source says

SHAH ALAM – After two national footballers became victims of robbery and an acid attack, the Malaysian sports arena faces further turmoil after a possible threat was made to Selangor FC chief executive officer (CEO).

English news portal The Star reported that a source said the football club is on high alert after its CEO Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon received a call from an unidentified person who said that he would be the next acid attack victim.

At that time, Johan was visiting Faisal, the prominent winger with the national team and Selangor FC who fell victim to an acid attack at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

The source said Johan immediately lodged a police report in connection with the threat.

On Sunday, Faisal was splashed with acid after a go-karting session, which left him with severe burns on his head and arms.

He sustained a fourth-degree burn and was scheduled for a series of surgery to treat his wound. The injuries had affected his ability to speak as well as his movements.

At press time, two men had been arrested to facilitate investigation.

Prior to this case, on May 2, national winger and Terengganu player Akhyar Rashid was robbed near his residence in Kuala Terengganu.
