HULU SELANGOR - Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin has announced a two-week leave from her managerial position at a logistics company in Shah Alam, to focus on the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign.
The 29-year-old candidate said that this decision is aimed at dedicating her full attention to engaging with voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu.
"I have taken a two-week leave from the company to focus on campaigning.
"I am personally visiting voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu, utilising my own vehicle for mobility," she said when contacted today.
On campaign financing, the Sabak Bernam native revealed that she is primarily using her personal savings for campaign expenses.
"I am financing most of the campaign expenses from my own savings.
"I have received contributions from family members to support my campaign efforts too," she added.
When asked about voter response during the campaign period, Ke Xin expressed satisfaction with the positive reception received from residents in the area.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election features a four-cornered contest involving Perikatan Nasional (PN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM), and independent candidate.
Representing the Unity Government, PH has nominated Pang Sock Tao, while PN is fielding Khairul Azhari Saut, and Hafizah Zainuddin is contesting on behalf of PRM.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu State Assembly constituency comprises 46 per cent Malay voters, 30 per cent Chinese, 18 per cent Indian, and five per cent other voters, including Orang Asli.
The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled the polling day for the by-election on May 11, with early voting set to take place on May 7.
