Suspect expresses love for wife at court hearing

KOTA BHARU - "Assalamualaikum... I still love my wife, Farah Md Isa, thank you," said the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) shooting suspect when met at the Kota Bharu Magistrate Court here today.

Hafizul Hawari, 38, made this confession upon his arrival here at 8.35am for the extension of his remand period.

The Magistrate's Court extended Hafizul's remand for five days from Tuesday to Saturday, as ordered by Magistrate Ahmad Syafiq Aizat Nazri.

On April 14, at approximately 1.20am, the suspect discharged two shots at the KLIA 1 Arrivals Hall, targeting his wife, who was awaiting Umrah pilgrims.

One shot missed its mark, while the other struck the bodyguard of the suspect's wife, who sustained serious injuries.

The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by the police in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, on April 15.

Initially remanded for seven days until April 22, the ongoing police investigation indicated that the incident stemmed from personal issues between the suspect and his wife.
