PUTRAJAYA - Police confirmed that a shooting incident occurred at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 arrival hall early this morning, however, the situation is under control.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that during the incident which occurred at 1.30am, a man fired two shots with one of the shots hitting a local man who was also a bodyguard.
"The police have identified the suspect and launched an operation to track down the suspect who is believed to have fled to the north,” he said when contacted here today.
He said the incident was originated from personal issue and unrelated to terrorist activities or groups.
"Investigations found that the suspect had intended to shoot his wife, who was waiting for the arrival of an umrah group,” he said, adding that the victim suffered severe injuries due to the shooting.
Hussein said the motive of the incident is still under investigation and the case is being investigated as an attempted murder under section 307 of the Penal Code and the Firearms Act. - BERNAMA
