KUALA LUMPUR - An Israeli man who was detained at a hotel in Jalan Ampang, here, on March 27 was hauled to the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex, today.
Avitan Shalom, 38, arrived at about 8am escorted by heavy police presence.
Also present were Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain along with several other police officers at the court's lobby.
Shalom will be charged with two counts under Section 7 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for possession of firearms and under the Immigration Act.
On March 27, he was detained at a hotel before checks were carried out and six pistols, including a SIG Sauer, Smith and Wesson, as well as Glock, along with 200 rounds of ammunition were found.
Two passports were also found in the hotel including a French passport which the suspect used to enter Malaysia from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 12 and an Israeli passport.
