JOHOR BAHRU - While conducting a survey at the Ramadan Bazaar in Kampung Melayu Majidee, Sinar encountered a foreign female beggar.

Identified as Fatimah Muhammad from Syria, she tearfully affirmed her origin when questioned, speaking repeatedly in Arabic.

Despite attempts to leave, she returned to her initial spot.

Displaying a card reading "We Are Family From Syria," she sought sympathy from passersby.

Siti Asiah Saufi, 27, a trader, noted seeing the woman for the first time last Monday, appearing to be alone in the area.

"I have never seen her before. She came alone and immediately sat near my stall," she said.

Nasir Daud, another trader, said it was his first encounter with the woman in the area.

However, he recalled seeing Syrians last year, usually with two or three children.

"This woman is the first one I've seen," he said.

She returned to the same area but in a different location while displaying a placard saying - "We Are Family From Syria."

Nurul Huda Rahim, 38, another trader, noted the woman's presence didn't disrupt business or public activity at the bazaar.

"She only sat in one location, seeking sympathy from the public.

"So far, she hasn't caused any trouble. Just last Monday, there was a male beggar, but he quickly left this place.

"Maybe he was chased by the authorities, I suppose," she added.
