PUTRAJAYA - A special edition plate number "GOLD 1” released in conjunction with the golden jubilee celebration of the Federal Territories, is now owned by Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, after a winning bid of RM1.5mil.
The hefty sum, which marks the highest-ever amount paid for a plate number in the country, will be chanelled to the Federal Government.
In a Facebook post earlier, Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience to Transport Minister Anthony Loke at Istana Negara, where he presented the plate number to His Majesty.
Previously, in June of last year, Sultan Ibrahim successfully acquired the FF 1 plate after a winning bid of RM1.2 million.
Meanwhile, on July 1, 2016, he won the bid for the F1 vehicle registration number, the new sequence for Putrajaya, at a value of RM836,660.
Sultan Ibrahim was confirmed as the owner of the vehicle registration number 'VR46' on February 8, 2017, with the highest bid of RM55,002.20.
