SHAH ALAM – It is compulsory for Umno to move or move forward.
Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said however the party cannot move on if its leaders were selfish.
"As long as he is safe and not disturbed. That's why don't underestimate the feelings of the grassroots. If they are discouraged and make a silent protest, the party cannot 'move on'.
"Umno does not need a 'Raja Formula' leader, only for him to rise but not for his party," he said in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.
Puad added that there were Umno leaders who did not speak up when their former president, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was not given a fair trial.
In fact, the same thing also happened when the President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was oppressed by selective prosecution and the leader in question became the beneficiary when Umno was in trouble.
On Sunday, Umno Vice President Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani was reported to have said that all members of the party must agree to the Pardons Board's decision against Najib, thus continuing efforts to strengthen the party.
He explained that for the sake of the party's survival, Umno's grassroots need to rise, especially redouble efforts to overhaul the party as a whole.
