SHAH ALAM – Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) Director Azrin Borhan said that his team is proactively addressing road safety concerns among underage school students by collaborating with schools in the state to provide assistance and support.
"For underage school students in Selangor who go to school without a driving licence and helmet, the RTD does indeed conduct enforcement actions from time to time.
"In addition, we also strengthen this matter actively by going to schools to advise these students on the importance of having a valid driving licence, the necessity of wearing a helmet for their own safety, and the safety of other road users,” Azrin said when met at Karangkraf Group headquarters, here, today.
He also said that RTD Selangor cooperated with schools in the state to address the issue.
"In schools, we have the uniform body of RTD Cadets as ambassadors for road safety advocacy.
"They (RTD Cadets) assist us in this matter and act as one of RTD's initiatives in addressing the issue of underage young people riding motorcycles without a driving license and not wearing helmets,” Azrin said.
On Nov 23 last year, Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) in collaboration with the Selangor RTD also held a Road Safety Advocacy Carnival to raise awareness about road safety among students.in order to cultivate good road ethics.
