MOSCOW - Four people believed to be working for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad have been executed in Iran for espionage and terrorism, reported Sputnik.
The four convicts were arrested in July 2022, several days before an alleged operation to sabotage an Iranian Defence Ministry factory, Iranian state-run news agency IRNA reported on Monday.
In September 2023, they were convicted of spying for Israel and forming and leading a terrorist group to undermine Iran's security, and sentenced to death, the report said. The verdict was upheld by an appeals court.
Iran does not recognise Israel and accuses the state of sabotage attacks. In December 2023, five people were executed in Iran for Mossad ties, Iranian media reported. - BERNAMA
