The culinary spectacle saw a captivating demonstration by Chef Patrick Siau, professor at Sunway University's School of Hospitality Service Management and Malaysia Pastry Team Coach. Chef Siau's culinary expertise has earned him the prestigious Vase de Sèvres prize, presented by the President of the French Republic for "Best Dégustation."

This event merged French agricultural excellence with culinary mastery, delivering a distinct taste of France to Malaysians. Attendees were treated to an exclusive five-course meal, featuring three exquisite French desserts ingeniously incorporating fresh French apples. The carefully curated menu showcased the versatility of apples, enhancing the flavours of the appetizer, pumpkin soup, and a delightful chicken dish, leaving a sweet and raspy apple taste that delighted the senses.

Thanks to the diverse French climates and geographical advantages, it has allowed the production of a myriad of high-quality apples. Out of the thousands of apple varieties worldwide, nearly 100 thrive in French orchards, with around 30 cultivated on a large scale. Some of these varieties, including Royal Gala, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, Kissabel, Pixie, Candine, and the Juliet.

These apples will be available in major retailers such as Aeon and Lotus since last month to March 2024.

The orchards of France have experienced exceptional weather during spring and summer, promising a harvest of apples that are not only visually appealing but also irresistibly crisp and delicious.

France anticipates a bountiful yield, with a projected production of 1.5 million tonnes, marking an 8 per cent increase from the previous year. Despite the overall European harvest expected to be smaller at 11 million tonnes, France proudly maintains its position as the third-largest apple producer in Europe, following Poland and Italy.
