UiTM students contribute RM24,000 worth of aid to Orang Asli Kampung Charok Bus

SHAH ALAM - Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Interpersonal Communication Programme (MC247) involving fifth-semester students successfully distributed contributions to the Orang Asli community in Kampung Charok Bus through the #INCsight 2024 programme on Jan 8.

The contributions, amounting to RM24,000 were delivered in the form of food aid packages, soap, study tables, and stationery sets for 30 families.

Programme advisor Norhayati Baba said the community service programme which involved 33 students aimed to cultivate a sense of concern and responsibility among students towards society.

"The programme allows students to put their leadership, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication skills into practice," she said.

Additionally, through this programme, students could apply leadership skills, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication skills.

Orang Asli Development and Safety Committee (JPKKOA) chairman Agem Belaun received the donations on behalf of Kampung Charok Bus.

Meanwhile, programme leader Puteri Nur Atiera Azumy highlighted that the programme targeted community service to the Orang Asli population, with the aim of creating awareness of residents in remote areas.

"Such programmes also educate individuals to share blessings with more people and nurture interest in community activities," she said.

The successful initiative was made possible through collaboration with the Perak Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa).

The team also conducted a public advocacy programme themed around digital safety, a balanced diet, and self-empowerment involving students at SK RPS Banun, Gerik, Perak.
