SHAH ALAM - Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin described the Dubai Move proclaimed by the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) as a waste of time for the government and the opposition.
He said the matter is a political gain for both parties involved.
"That's why (the Dubai move) also gives a political gain to the government.
"They (the government) want to attack Perikatan Nasional (PN), but PN is not good at discussing policy.
"So, the government has to attack like that (Dubai Move)," he said.
He said this through the Keluar Sekejap Podcast programme with co-host former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan yesterday.
It was reported that J-Kom deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop revealed a movement dubbed the Dubai Move to overthrow Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, planned and orchestrated by opposition leaders.
The matter was later confirmed by the Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor that there was a plan by the PN to overthrow the Federal Government through a democratic process based on the Federal Constitution.
The measure was drafted based on the anti-party hopping law loophole used by the Madani Government to attract the support of five PN MPs.
Shahril also agreed with Khairy's view that the Dubai Move needs to make more sense.
He stated that Sarawak (MPs from Sarawak) needs to declare non-support for Anwar for there to be a slight possibility of a change in government.
"They (Sarawak) will not do that. Sarawak will not do it.
"We also know that if there are MPs who are dissatisfied or uncomfortable, if there are any, they are within the Umno MPs.
"Why should other parties have to follow?" said Shahril.
