KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized Menara Ilham, a prominent building in Kuala Lumpur, as confirmed by its Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki today.
The building, often linked to a notable corporate figure and former minister, is under investigation in accordance with the MACC Act 2009.
This action follows a seizure notice dated December 18, 2023, which was published in an online news portal.
"Yes (impounded)," Azam said briefly to Sinar today.
An Immovable Property seizure notice dated December 18, 2023, was published online earlier today, according to Buletin TV3.
The notice orders the Registrar of Titles, Lands and Minerals of the Federal Territory Director office to seize the Menara Ilham building (grant 75830, Lot 20002, No. 8, Jalan Binjai, Kuala Lumpur).
Issued by MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib under Section 38(1) of the MACC Act and Section 376(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the notice confirms satisfaction with the information provided by MACC officers.
The notice restricts all transactions involving the property and mandates the immediate recording of these terms on the title document in the Registrar of Property's Register.
