PETALING JAYA - The mother of the girl who died after being left in a car for more than seven hours in the Ara Damansara residential area on Nov 9 will be charged on Friday.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the woman would be brought before the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court for this case.
"The suspect will be charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 at 9am tomorrow (Friday)," he said in a statement on Thursday.
On Nov 9, the two-year-old victim died after being left by her mother for more than seven hours in a car in the Ara Damansara residential area near here.
Investigation revealed that at about 7am, the woman also drove her two children with the victim to be sent to a nearby school before heading to a kindergarten to send the victim.
However, when the woman arrived at the kindergarten, she then stopped to complete business matters online and forgot to drop the victim off.
She then drove back home without realising that the victim was left in the vehicle.
The woman only realised the victim was unconscious in the car at about 3.35pm.
