SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional's (PN) Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar is on track to a landslide victory in the Kemaman parliamentary by-election, with over half the ballots counted.
As of now, PN has garnered 36,115 votes, while Barisan Nasional (BN) has secured 16,022 votes.
This gives PN a commanding vote share of nearly 70 per cent.
The Kemaman constituency comprises four state constituencies: Kijal, Cukai, Air Putih, and Kemasik.
A total of 141,790 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this by-election.
In the Aug 12 state election, PN retained Cukai, Air Putih, and Kemasik by a landslide and captured Kijal from BN.
Kijal was previously considered a stronghold of Terengganu Umno chief Ahmad Said.
Given the current voting trends, PN is heavily favored to retain Kemaman in this by-election.
