KUALA LUMPUR - Police are investigating sexual harassment allegations involving the former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) Director-General Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff, reported to have occurred in Bintulu, Sarawak.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that a report was received from the complainant, J-Kom Assistant Officer Abdul Wahab Abd Kader Jilani.
"According to the report, Wahab claims the incident took place on Oct 21 at a hotel.
"The police have initiated an investigation under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault and Section 377D for indecency," he told Sinar today.
Razarudin noted that Wahab filed the report for self-protection and denied involvement in any plot to discredit or fabricate stories against Agus.
He added that the police are still investigating the case and plan to call several individuals for statements.
On Thursday, Wahab went to the Kajang district police headquarters to file a police report and claimed his action was to clear his name in a video recording issue involving lewd conversations.
Wahab admitted feeling pressured by the situation involving him and Agus.
Earlier, Razarudin reported that the investigation papers related to the video slander allegation were referred to the Attorney General's Office in line with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.
