NILAI - Several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and residents have expressed concerns about an upcoming entertainment concert scheduled to take place in Nilai on Dec 2 and 3, citing potential social disruptions and inappropriate proximity to religious institutions.

Representing Nilai Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam dan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Pekida), Zulfakar Belian voiced apprehensions that the concert could lead to various social issues, including noise pollution, traffic congestion, and potential security risks.

He also raised concerns about the concert's location, close to Masjid Putra Nilai and Masjid Desa Indah, both within a 500-metre radius.

He stressed that the majority of the surrounding population adheres to Islam, and the concert could disturb the peaceful atmosphere and religious sensitivities.

"We are also concerned about potential immoral activities such as alcohol consumption, drug use, and inappropriate behavior," Zulfakar said.

On behalf of the concerned groups, Zulfakar filed police reports to the Nilai district police headquarters yesterday, urging the authorities to intervene and prevent any undesirable incidents.

"We have also been informed that among the invited performers are former adult film actors.

"We believe that the residents of Nilai will strongly oppose this, and the local authorities (PBT) should take steps to cancel the concert or relocate it to a more suitable venue," Zulfakar diclosed.
