KOTA BHARU - Organisers of the Loy Krathong Festival in Bachok are facing scrutiny for allegedly violating permit conditions by featuring a female singer accompanied by scantily clad dancers during a concert at the event last Friday.
The Kelantan government, through the Bachok Municipal Council, had approved a permit for the religious event last September following the organiser's application in June.
However, the event is believed to have breached permit conditions by featuring a singer from Thailand performing in revealing attire despite the presence of Muslim attendees.
"We are conducting an investigation, and if the organisers are found guilty of breaching permit regulations, they could face fines not exceeding RM10,000 under the state Entertainment Control Enactment," Kelantan's Local Government, Housing, Health, and Environment Committee Chairman Hilmi Abdullah said during the Kelantan State Assembly's Second Session of the 15th State Legislative Assembly at the Kota Darulnaim Complex here today.
The organisers have been summoned for questioning after a concert recording went viral last Thursday, sparking heated debates on social media platforms.
Kelantan PKR women's wing has also urged the Pas-led state administration to investigate the organisation of the concert, stating that it clearly contravened Kelantan's Entertainment Control Enactment.
