SHAH ALAM - Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) continues to face customer backlash due to ongoing technical issues with its MAE app today.
Users have taken to social media, particularly Facebook, to express their frustration over the persistent disruptions, which have rendered online banking transactions virtually impossible.
Lina Shaari, a Maybank account holder, complained the bank's inability to address the recurring service disruptions, stating that it has hindered her ability to make essential payments.
She further noted that the app currently only supports Interbank GIRO (IBG) transactions, limiting users' options.
"Why are money transfers restricted to GIRO payments?.
"Earlier today, I couldn't even pay for food at the shop using the MAE app.
Another customer, Hamid Hassan, echoed the sentiment, voicing disappointment over the bank's silence regarding the ongoing issue. "Maybank, please provide an official statement regarding the MAE app's technical problems.
"Don't leave us in the dark without any answers," he urged.
In a separate comment, Myth Starz suggested that Maybank reconsider reimplementing the Transaction Authentication Code (TAC) system, citing its ease of use and convenience for transactions.
"It's absurd to keep encountering the same problem repeatedly.
"It's simpler to revert to the TAC system instead of forcing us to use Maybank2U.
"These glitches are causing unnecessary stress," they wrote.
Meanwhile, MR Hazelnut highlighted the inconvenience caused by the lack of standardization across banking systems.
"Other banks seamlessly operate with a single app. Maybank's reliance on multiple applications is unnecessarily cumbersome," they said.
At press time, Maybank has yet to provide an official statement regarding the MAE app's technical issues.
