After a harrowing month trapped in Gaza, Nurul Ain Haron, 37, and her husband, Mohamed Adan Shaat, 33, were finally brought home safely last night.

After the war broke out on October 7, this woman's trip to see her in-laws in Khan Younis, Gaza, turned into a nightmare that went viral on social media.

She was born in Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, and used her TikTok account to post videos of the situation in Gaza with the Palestinian people, inspiring many Malaysians to follow her progress.

Undoubtedly, this "iron woman's" tenacity is extremely inspirational, as she endured an awful scenario that truly cannot be explained in words during her 37 days stuck in Gaza.

The internet is down, there is no electricity, people are forced to drink salt water because there is no clean water, and there is a shortage of medication.

Nurul Ain managed to maintain a smile in every video, despite having to overcome everything.

Even more terrible, she saw that hospitalised patients needed to be treated and operated on without anaesthetics, and that eight rounds of bombs were fired at her husband's close family! Nurul Ain's parents also once advised her not to shed tears because she said, "If she falls, God willing, Ain will be martyred." In the face of fear and any possibility, Nurul Ain and her husband are still trying their best to help the Palestinian people who are victims of the Zionist regime's brutality by providing supplies of medicines and clean blankets.

Nurul Ain's experience should serve as a lesson to us as Malaysians, who are accustomed to living in a peaceful nation free from conflict, to be patient when faced with challenges.

Chanting #FreePalestine and being busy showing support are pointless if, when we are tested, we are fast to complain about not having this or that and become irritated when we experience a little misfortune.

Thank you, Nurul Ain, for inspiring me in my fight to preserve faith.

Hopefully, more people will want to follow in your footsteps.
