Undeterred with calls for removal from Sephora, Huda Beauty donates USD$1 million to Gaza

Despite being under fire for consistently pledging support for the Palestinians, Huda Beauty founder Huda Kattan announces that it will donate USD$1 million to humanitarian organisations in Gaza.

"It’s been A MONTH of immense suffering in Gaza, and unfortunately things are getting worse.

"It’s important that we always stand on the side of the oppressed & use our platforms to shed light on any injustice. We cannot stand by and pretend like this is not happening.

"Our Huda Beauty brands, including Huda Beauty, Kayali and WISHFUL will be donating $1 million to humanitarian organisations in Gaza.

"This is only because of you that we are able to make this donation, so thank you for your support. Together we can bring change,” it said in a statement posted on Instagram.

Social media users lauded the move and the fact that Huda Beauty maintained its stance despite the calls to boycott.

"Love to see a brand that is willing to use their resources to help those in need,” Ashghotcakess said.

Malaysian popular singer-songwriter Yuna praised Huda for being amazing.

Huda had been vocal in the plight of the Palestinians and called for other celebrities to use their platforms to spread awareness.

Previously, the beauty mogul went viral when she shut down and Israeli supporter who threatened her products.

The social media user Tohar.sagi said that Israelis from all over the world love Kattan and her products but would boycott her as she stood with Gaza.

"I don’t know if you noticed, but Israelis from all over the world love you and your products. With most of their money and you chose Gaza. So remember this as soon as no Israeli buys from you again, anywhere in the world and it is a shame because we buy a lot.

"Gaza doesn’t have money to invest in it in my opinion because they prefer to invest in weapons but have a lovely day!” she posted.

To this comment, Kattan briefly replied, "I don’t want blood money.”

Following her constant support for Gaza, there had also been several ongoing petitions to call for Huda Beauty products to be removed from beauty retailer Sephora.

Those who supported Kattan’s stand had also launched petitions to maintain Huda Beauty’s partnership with the giant retailer.
