SHAH ALAM - The electric washing machine, a remarkable invention of the 20th century, revolutionised the way people handled laundry.
In the past, laborious hours were spent boiling water, hand-scrubbing clothes, and going through the entire laundry process.
The modern appliance liberated individuals from the laundry room, allowing them to focus on work or other activities of their choice.
While it is a miraculous product, it has its limitations – it cannot clean everything, nor can it decipher laundry care labels or select the appropriate settings without human assistance.
A recent viral video on social media depicted a couple attempting to fit a mattress into a dryer at a 24-hour laundry facility, eliciting mixed reactions from netizens.
In the video, the man is seen rolling the mattress with the woman's assistance as they try to stuff it into the dryer. It becomes evident that the mattress is too large for the appliance, with another mattress protruding from a dryer below.
Some netizens found the couple's actions amusing, while others were taken aback and criticised them for being selfish and inconsiderate of other customers.
"I'm surprised at how determined they are," commented one netizen.
"This is just ridiculous. They're clearly not thinking of other people," said another netizen.
It is unclear why the couple was trying to dry their mattress in a dryer, but their actions have served as a reminder to everyone to be mindful of others when using public facilities.
Among the items that cannot be placed in the washing machine or dryer are mattresses, shoes, lighters, carpets, flammable materials, and alcohol.
