SUBANG JAYA - People at a shopping mall here were in a panic as the underground level began to flood due to the continuous rain on Sunday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations and Firefighting Division Assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a distress call was received on the incident at 8.39pm.
"A team of firemen from the Subang Jaya Fire Station was rushed to the scene and found 0.3-metre-high waters at the scene.
"The flood affected an electronics shop in the space,” he said via a statement on Sunday.
He said flood waters began subsiding when the rain stopped.
"Checks revealed that the situation was under control. No people were affected by the floods,” he said.
The heavy rains, which lasted for several hours, involved several areas around Subang Jaya.
It was learned that floods occurred along Jalan Persiaran Subang, as well as parts of the USJ area.
Earlier, videos circulating on social media showed several inches of water flooding the lower floor of the mall.
