KOTA BHARU - The weakness of unity of Muslim communities globally is causing continued oppression and cruelty by the Israeli Zionist regime against the Palestinians.
Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic University College (KIAS) rector Professor Emeritus Dr Ab Aziz Mohd Zin said what was happening in the Gaza Strip was a clash between the Muslims, Israel or Jews.
He said whether they liked it or not, Muslims must realise the fact that they did not possess enough power to stop the genocide by the Zionist regime in every aspect.
This is not just an issue of the Palestinians because Jerusalem is a holy place for Islam, so the war that is happening is related to Muslims all over the world.
"There are around six million Israelis in the United States, but they dominate the economy and politics, while our strength, the Muslims, is not there physically, in terms of power, economy and what we have are only division and conflict including the Arab countries," he told Sinar Harian, yesterday.
The 1445 Hijrah Kelantan Hijratul Rasul Personality said the Islamic concept of strength encompassed the spirit of jihad and faith among others in addition to physical strength and weaponry.
He said Muslims must be ready, sharpen their intelligence and arm themselves with weapons as advanced as those of the enemy, just as they were in the days of the prophets who waged war with horseback archery.
"Muslims in Palestine want to uphold justice, defend their religion and homeland, that's why Muslims in the world need to help by uniting," he added.
Aziz said the only way Muslims can become fearless and well-respected again like they were during the prophet's time was if they practiced a way of life based on the Quran.
He said at that time, the enemy succeeded in diverting the attention of Muslims from the Quran when the majority of its passages were viewed as nothing more than statements made by Allah that were meant to be read but not practiced.
"In order to restore the unity and equality of Muslims in the world, we must go back to faith-based values.
"Habits that can lead to division and are against religion must be removed, then Islam will be strong again in the world and win in Palestine as promised by Allah in the Quran," he said.
