KUALA LUMPUR - The statement by Pas Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man regarding the equal allocation issue for the opposition during the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government is clearly a lie.
Setiawangsa Bersatu youth wing information chief said he urged the Kubang Kerian MP to stop deceiving the people and making this issue a cheap political tool to incite hatred against the Unity Government.
He pointed out that the previous government only provided allocations to opposition Members of Parliament on certain conditions.
"I would like to remind him that during the PN government, opposition MPs from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) only received allocations after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Political Transformation and Stability with the government on Sept 13, 2021.
"PH, led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, agreed to sign the MoU to ensure political stability and ensure allocations could be distributed for the benefit of the people," he said on Saturday.
He made these comments in response to a statement issued by Tuan Ibrahim in a news portal report on the issue of allocations to opposition representatives.
In the report, Tuan Ibrahim said that Pas would leave it to the Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin whether to engage in negotiations again regarding allocations to opposition MPs.
However, Tuan Ibrahim said that the allocations should be given directly without making negotiations a condition, as the previous administration also did not make such a stipulation.
Azha also advised the opposition leader to hold negotiations with the government, as offered by the Prime Minister, as a solution to the issue.
