SHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called on Malaysians to unite in condemning the US government for supporting Israeli atrocities.
He slammed the United States (US) for appearing to back the actions of Israel in Gaza, further implicating both the US and United Kingdom (UK) governments in the ongoing colonisation that has plagued Palestine.
"Israel, though not a major power, often disregards international law and morality because it's backed by the US.
"The US appears to overlook Israel's actions.
"President Biden (US President Joe Biden) has not addressed the casualties on the Palestinian side," Dr Mahathir said in a Facebook post today.
Last week, Sinar highlighted Dr Mahathir's statement, where he commented that several world leaders have refrained from condemning Israel, possibly due to their reliance on the support of major powers.
He also suggested that US backing for Israel might be influenced by the significant role the Jewish community plays in US politics.
Dr Mahathir raised questions regarding the casualty figures from the colonisation.
Initially, reports indicated 2,000 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis had died.
However, while recent reports claim over 5,000 Palestinians have been killed, the number of Israeli casualties remains unchanged at 1,400.
He also questioned the veracity of these figures, asking whether the numbers might have been manipulated for political reasons.
