KUCHING - Good governance is the main criteria used by the Sports Commissioner's Office (PJS) under its star rating system, said Sports Commissioner Suhardi Alias.
He said good governance is assessed based on the association's ability to achieve its objectives as well as the aspirations of its members, in addition to presenting its financial reports and holding its Annual General Meeting.
"The star rating will enable the associations to attract more sponsors for their sports activities.
"In addition, it allows the associations to receive grants as announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he told reporters after a town hall session with the Sarawak sports associations at the Youth and Sports Complex here today.
Suhardi said sports bodies that are inactive or do not submit the required information or annual reports will have their registrations cancelled.
"However, these associations can appeal for reinstatement by complying with certain conditions and providing reasonable justifications, such as submitting the required information for the consideration of the PJS committee.
"This is also to ensure that all committee members in the association are responsible for the tasks to reactivate the association,” he said. - BERNAMA
