SHAH ALAM – Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang issues a stern warning against the leadership of the four state governments it controls, reminding them to be fair and not vindictive against the opposition in the respective states.
In his winding-up speech at the 69th Pas Muktamar, here, today, Hadi urged that those of Pas must not be an avenger after coming to power, even though the Islamist party had been a victim of cruelties in the past.
"This is what the Prophet Muhammad had taught us.
"The government of the four states that we won needs to prove this. That we are fair for all,” said the Marang MP.
He was referring to the Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu state governments which Pas won in the recent Aug 12 six state polls.
In his speech, Hadi – who retained his presidency in this year’s party polls for the term 2023-2025 which he won uncontested – highlighted the challenges that the leadership of the four state governments will face.
"In the states we govern, we can't give everything, we have to be fair to everyone, whether they support or oppose us.
"We face many challenges because there are among us those with strong faith, weak faith and opportunists. These are significant challenges for us," Hadi said.
