SHAH ALAM – Despite the federal government characterising Kelantan as a poor state in the country, the Kelantenese are rich.
In fact, Pas vice-president Datuk Seri Idris Ahmad described that the Kelantanese have such a self-reliant nature in building their own economy in any circumstances.
"Perhaps some may label Kelantan as economically disadvantaged, but the Kelantanese people are financially well-off.
"In fact, a significant portion of the state's assets are owned by the local Malay community," said the Bagan Serai MP.
He also stressed the need to refrain from comparing Kelantan and Selangor, as such a comparison would be like equating apples to oranges.
"Kelantan and Selangor should not be compared. Selangor has a major international airport and is in proximity to Port Klang.
"However, Kelantan's wealth lies in its agriculture," he added.
