SHAH ALAM - After successfully capturing Kelantan, Kedah, Terengganu and Perlis, Pas has set its target on Perak and Pahang, in its quest to dominate the Malaysian political atmosphere.

Pas election director, Datuk Seri Sanusi Md Nor said in pursuit of expanding its influence, Pas is currently actively working on various strategies to conquer additional states for the upcoming 16th general election (GE16).

"This includes a focus on strengthening its presence in both the national parliament and state elections, with an eye on gaining more seats, particularly in Perak and Pahang,” Sanusi said during his opening speech at 69th Pas Muktamar at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) here.

Sanusi who is also Kedah Menteri Besar said with the party's substantial number of seats in the state assemblies and Parliament, this was not an impossible goal to have.

"As the largest political party with many seats in state assemblies and Parliament under the leadership of our Tuan Guru (Hadi Awang), the party has successfully gained prominence as a significant influence in shaping political decisions in the country," he said.

Sanusi added that the party needs to take more dynamic steps to engage with Malaysian youths, who may not yet be involved in politics.

"To achieve this, Pas needs to diversify its political approach and break away from traditional constraints. We need to conquer the youth to choose us,” he said.

He also urged all Pas MPs and state assemblymen to not deviate from the principles and instructions provided by the party.

"It's not uncommon for misunderstandings to arise among representatives and between different levels of the party's hierarchy,” he said.

Sanusi also emphasised the importance of unity between Pas’s central leadership, state branches, and all party representatives, as collaboration between these segments is essential for effective grassroots work and to service constituencies.

As Malaysia approaches the GE16, he added that the responsibility to ensure the party's success rests on the shoulders of its members to secure a significant victory and potentially topple the current government.
