TELUK INTAN: Six teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the gang rape of a Form 2 female student in a house at Hutan Melintang last September.
Hilir Perak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri said that five of the teenagers attended the same school as the victim, and one had dropped out.
Ahmad Adnan claimed his team received a complaint regarding the incident from the victim's mother last Tuesday at 8.30pm.
"The school informed the incident to the victim's mother before a police report was made.
"The incident is believed to have occurred in a residence near Hutan Melintang on Sep 24 at around 2.30am.
"The 14-year-old victim was picked up by a known school friend and taken to the house.
"The victim was then invited to have sex by five local teenagers aged between 15 and 17, except for the one who brought the victim to the house," he said in a statement yesterday.
Ahmad Adnan said the police detained six individuals on Wednesday based on the information.
"For three days, from Oct 18 to 20, all the suspects were placed under arrest.
"Since the victim is still a minor, the police are investigating the case under Section 375b of the Penal Code, which is gang rape.
"The investigation into this case is considered completed by the police.
"The investigation papers will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions," he added. - AWANI
