KUCHING - Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg continues to keep mum about the candidate to be fielded to represent the coalition in the Jepak state by-election next month.
The Sarawak Premier said the name of the candidate will be announced either tomorrow or on Thursday.
"Let’s wait for the announcement, maybe tomorrow maybe the following day...one thing for sure, the candidate is a man,” he told reporters after attending the convocation ceremony of Swinburne University of Technology here today.
On Oct 15, Abang Johari said several individuals have been identified as prospective candidates for the seat, but the coalition still needs to ensure that they are "clean” from any criminal records and corruption.
The Election Commission has set the polling for the by-election on Nov 4, nomination on Oct 21 and early voting on Oct 31.
