GEORGE TOWN - Bumiputera company Richiamo Coffee Sdn Bhd, the owner of the premium coffee chain Richiamo Coffee, plans to expand to several countries next year.
Managing director Muhamad Zamry Abu Samah said there are plans to open outlets in several countries, including in Singapore, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India and Algeria.
"The success in bringing the Richiamo Coffee brand to Siem Reap, Cambodia, will be the foundation for the company’s overseas expansion. We are also eyeing several other countries, and discussions to open the new outlets are under way.
"We will open outlets in neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Indonesia early next year before expanding to other countries. Our plan for Indonesia is to open in Batam,” he told Bernama today after the opening of the Richiamo Coffee outlet in Hotel G, which was officiated by Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.
Richiamo Coffee was established in 2016, and currently, there are 175 outlets nationwide, with five in Penang, including the latest in Hotel G.
Muhamad Zamry said the company planned to add 10 more outlets this year, and the target for 2024 is a total of 222 Richiamo Coffee outlets nationwide.
"Why 222 outlets? Because our initial plan is to open at least one outlet in each parliamentary constituency, and I hope by next year, we can achieve this target,” he said.
Muhamad Zamry said Richiamo Coffee is well received by customers due to its family-based cafe concept that offers a selection of local and Western dishes, especially its local menu with dishes such as asam pedas, daging salai, masak lemak chili padi and patin masak tempoyak.
He added that Richiamo Coffee’s prices are 40 to 45 per cent cheaper compared with other premium brands in the country.
"Richiamo Coffee’s strength is that we offer local dishes for families dining in, and we are not limited to Western cuisine, apart from cakes and pastries,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muhamad Zamry said the company will soon introduce its new venture in the form of a convenience store chain based on a modern concept.
He said the chain will be known as Richiamo Mart, similar in concept to other existing overseas chains operating in Malaysia.
"The first Richiamo Mart will open soon in Kuala Lumpur and then we plan to expand to new residential areas, especially condominiums,” he added. - BERNAMA
