JOHOR BAHRU - A man died after his car crashed into a pillar in front of Istana Pasir Pelangi, here, yesterday.
Johor Bahru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said investigations found that a 27-year-old man was the driver of the vehicle.
"The incident involved a local man driving a Mitsubishi Lancer alone heading from Permasjaya towards Johor Bahru.
"His vehicle had crashed into a pillar causing him to die at the scene after sustaining injuries on his head,” he said.
He said the victim was sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for an autopsy.
Larkin Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Firdaus Abdullah said he received the report on the emergency regarding the incident at 8.26am.
He said a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), Emergency Medical Response Services machineries and three rapid intervention motorcycle (RIM) units along with 14 personnel from the Larkin BBP were deployed to the scene.
"The accident involved a Mitsubishi Lancer which crashed into a pillar under a bridge.
"Firemen removed the victim however, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene by the medical team,” he said.
