KUALA LUMPUR - Former health director-general (DG) Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, has annouced that he will return to duty at the Putrajaya Hospital Endocrine Institute.
Dr Noor Hisham on his personal Facebook account said he would be working in the operation theatre every Monday.
"May the Endocrine Institute be able to further strengthen their medical and endocrine surgery services in the nation and continue to be the centre of international excellence, insya-Allah,” he wrote on his Facebook post.
Dr Noor Hisham also wrote in the post that the Endocrine Institute covered a 10 storey block with 220 beds encompassing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) (with 10 adult beds, paediatric with eight beds) as well as the Hybrid Operating Theatre (Integrative Neuro-Endocrine).
He explained there were four operating theatres that have already started operating last week.
Dr Noor Hisham had retired as the health DG on April 19, after 35 years of dedicated service in the nation’s public health sector.
He took the post of director general since 2013 and throughout his service, he was among the most important individuals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Noor Hisham was described by Malaysians as the people’s ‘hero’ through his leadership in combatting the virus. - AWANI
