BATU PAHAT - A woman died when her motorcycle was involved in an accident with two other vehicles at KM119 of Jalan Tanjung Laboh-Johor Bahru-Melaka today.
Batu Pahat district police deputy chief Superintendent Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the accident involving a car and a lorry took place at around 8.30am.
"Initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the 24-year-old motorcyclist hit the back of a broken down car which was parked at the motorcycle lane.
"As a result of the collision, the rider with her motorcycle fell to the right side of the road and the victim was run over by a lorry from the same direction.
"The collision had caused the victim to suffer a severe head injury and she had died at the scene," he said in a statement today.
The victim's body was sent to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for further examination and post-mortem.
The car and lorry drivers did not suffer any injury.
The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless and dangerous driving.
The police asked the public who had any information regarding the accident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
