SHAH ALAM -The confidence given by the party's top leadership is a motivation to thrive for success in the upcoming Pelangai state assembly by-election on Oct 7.
Barisan Nasional (BN)'s Pelangai state seat candidate, Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, described his history in the previous 15th general election (GE15), where he lost by a 120-vote majority to his opponent, and what is seen today is that the leaders have given him the confidence and entrusted him to continue and win confidently.
"Bentong Umno had several candidates, but they took one mandate, which stated we needed one individual to represent them.
"This raises my spirits to rise once again and become a representative for six, five, and four (other candidates),” he said.
Amizar said Umno has had many leaders, and he was prepared to once again become a candidate and represent BN.
He said that his family members and the party leadership's confidence in him helped him go even further in his journey.
When asked whether he would be able to connect with the 20 per cent Chinese voters in Pelangai, he responded with encouraging results after meeting them directly.
"For now, Alhamdulillah, I met the Chinese voters one to one in their areas. The reception to it was encouraging, and they have recognised and remembered the legacy of Long Nan (Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob) and the legacy of the late Datuk Johari Harun, and they think I must continue it.
"This increased my spirits, and it meant that Chinese voters were prepared to accept my presence as a representative for BN,” he said.
Amizar, during the interview with Sinar, was asked about his plans for the residents in the area, and he said by returning to basics and ensuring Pelangai becomes a gateway for other states.
"If I’m chosen by the public, I will want to go back to some basics. Our logistics must be looked into. However, what I want to achieve the most is to create a wow factor.
"This is my dream. I want to make Simpang Pelangai the gateway to all states, like the Pelangai or Pahang gateways. For example, it looks big, but it’s simple and remains practical.
"This is the vision I saw. Why not? After we have it, we can see new matters that could be done,” he said.
