PUTRAJAYA -The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) provided assistance of RM150,000 to the Association of Blind Muslims Malaysia (Pertis) and the Al-Rayyan Welfare Association of Malaysia (Perkam) for the purchase of Al-Quran learning machines.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said the fund was for the purchase of the machines, each costing RM3,000, to facilitate the learning of the Quran by members of the associations.
MAIWP give priority to the disabled to ensure that they too get the opportunity to read the Quran, he said in a statement today.
He said the assistance provided by MAIWP to the disabled was in line with the Al-Falah Transformation Plan, which is based on five cores including Sustainable Islamic Administration; Human Well-being and Islamic Institutions.
The Al-Falah Transformation Plan, among other things, focuses on efforts to strengthen understanding and appreciation of religion among Muslims including the disabled, the homeless and asnaf (tithe recipients), he added.
The plan, launched in January this year, was designed based on the philosophy and spirit of hayya 'alal falah (rush to success) which is mentioned every time in the azan (call to prayer). - BERNAMA
