IPD Klang Utara organised a five-corner match with the community and media teams at the Shah Alam Mini Stadium last night.

SHAH ALAM - A five-corner friendly football match between the Klang Utara District Police Headquarters (IPD), the community and media teams at the Shah Alam Mini Stadium last night can strengthen their bond as an effort to channel information and combat crimes.

This was also in line with the theme of 2023 Police Day which is 'Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada' (police and the people are inseparable).

Klang District Police chief Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said that the friendly match aimed to strengthen the relationship between the police, the community and the media through football.

"This can foster the spirit of sports and healthy lifestyle practices in conjunction with the upcoming National Sports Day in October.

"Indirectly, the police can exchange opinions besides sharing information from the public in our efforts to maintain the safety and order of the community," he said yesterday.

He said that the concept is capable of creating a healthy and active community apart from culturalising health care.

He said that such approach also allowed the community to be informally exposed to the methods and immediate act of channelling information to the police to prevent crimes.

"The match is also important in forming a harmonious relationship between members of the security forces and all layers of the multiracial community who are also active in football.

"This at once negates the impression that security personnel are less friendly with the general public," he said.
