TUMPAT - Police are tracking down the vehicle and its registration number of the suspect involved in a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a man on Sunday evening along Hutan Kuin Road in Machang.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the investigation into the incident was believed to involve five men in the vehicle who approached the victim inside a pickup truck in front of a workshop.
He said it was challenging to obtain the vehicle's registration number as there were no closed-circuit cameras (CCTV) at the location of the incident.
"If the public has any information, especially about the vehicle and its registration number in the vicinity, they can contact the police," he said.
He said this after a working visit programme by the Immigration director general at ICQS Complex Pengkalan Kubor today.
Zaki added the investigation into the motive of the incident included criminal activities involving the victim, including drug possession and distribution, as well as two cases involving firearms.
"The victim also had court cases and was involved in threats. The victim was last released from prison in April of this year.
"However, we are still tracking down the suspects, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
Yesterday, it was reported that a workshop owner was believed to have been shot in an incident at around 5.30pm.
The victim was found covered in blood inside a pickup truck in front of a vehicle spare parts store.
