PUTRAJAYA - Not having a valid licence and road tax being expired are believed to be the cause of a motorcyclist crashing into a Road Transport Department (RTD) during a roadblock at KM28 of the Seremban Port Dickson Highway (SPDH) in Negeri Sembilan today.
In a statement, RTD said the incident occurred at around 11am while a team of officers were conducting enforcement operations at the location.
According to the statement, the motorcyclist riding a Yamaha Y125ZR violated the roadblock and rammed into the officer on duty.
"As a result of the investigation by the RTD Enforcement Division in Negeri Sembilan, the motorcyclist was found to have no competent driving license (CDL) and an expired motor vehicle license (LKM), July 18, 2012 and no insurance coverage.
"In addition, a check revealed that the rider has two active blacklist record and action has been taken under the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987," it said, today.
It further said a police report has been lodged regarding the incident.
"The rider has been handed over to the Traffic Enforcement Investigation Division of the Port Dickson District Police Headquarters (IPD) to assist in the investigation under Section 42(1) of the Act and Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from performing their duties," it said.
The special motorcycle operation conducted nationwide from Sept 1 to 30, aimed to strengthen the culture of compliance with road safety regulations.
"The public is advised not to flee or act beyond expectations when facing enforcement operations conducted by the RTD.
Today, a five-second video went viral showing an RTD enforcement officer being thrown and hit on the head after a motorcyclist believed to have tried to escape a roadblock rammed into him.
