She said with this addition, seven Starlink devices have been installed, including in Johor, Perak, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

"As for the remaining three satellite devices, we plan to install them in Sabah and are in the midst of identifying the locations to install the devices," she told reporters during the screening of the movie Malbatt: Misi Bakara in Kulai here today.

She said the installation of the devices in Sabah and Sarawak was a temporary solution as it was difficult to install fiber optic cables and other cables especially in the interior areas.

The Kulai MP said the costs of installing the device as well as the monthly payments will be borne by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for one year

Currently, one unit of high-spec Starlink device costs RM11,613 with a coverage distance of about 100 metre and speed of 40MBPS to 220MBPS, she added.

She said 10 units of the devices will be as proof of concept to evaluate its feasibility before its use is expanded further. - BERNAMA
