SHAH ALAM - Save Malaysia Movement which consists of 10 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) including political parties is planning to gather in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur this Saturday to present three demands to the government.
Through a joint statement today, the three demands were to prosecute the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, free the Attorney General and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) from executive powers as well as provide a fair law for every citizen of the nation.
"The joint secretariat calls on all citizens who love integrity and agree with these three demands to come together in Kuala Lumpur to express their support.
"We assure you that Save Malaysia's rally will take place peacefully with a great constitutional spirit.
"We will not ignore any provocation and will ask all participants to remain disciplined and respectful throughout the rally," it said.
The joint statement was released by Gerakan Pembela Ummah (Ummah), Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa (Perkasa), Gabungan Mahasiswa Islam Se-Malaysia (Gamis), Mahasiswa United and the Selangor Humane Progressive Association.
Also involved were Gabungan Ayahanda Persilatan, Pas, Bersatu, Gerakan and Pejuang.
Federal Police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain yesterday reportedly said that the police had rejected the rally notice as the information provided was incomplete.
According to him, the organisers did not meet the conditions according to the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Meanwhile, the joint secretariat also said that it had set up a legal team should any party face action from the authorities due to the assembly.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth leader Ahmad Fadhli Shaari in a press conference last Sunday announced that his party will organise a peaceful assembly on Sept 16 in front of Sogo shopping complex following Zahid's discharge without acquittal (DNAA) decision.
He then announced that the gathering would likely be held in Bukit Bintang instead.
