KUALA LUMPUR - The Save Malaysia rally scheduled for Sept 16, in Kuala Lumpur will go on as scheduled, and further details will be decided tonight.
The Save Malaysia rally secretariat, Badrul Hisham Shaharin, or Chegu Bard, said there were no issues regarding the organisation of the rally as the matter had been notified to the police.
He, who is a political activist, said the safety aspect would be given priority by organisers to ensure it ran peacefully.
"The question of safety in the assembly would surely become the main issue as we want to save the nation.
"That's why we must not cause a commotion to the nation on this historical day.
"We are simply rallying and celebrating Malaysia Day," he said in a press conference on Wednesday.
He said such when met after several Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders were called in to give a statement to the police at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) here.
Among those called to give a statement regarding the Save Malaysia Assembly press conference on Sunday were PN Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, PN Youth deputy chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, and Gombak Setia Assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham.
Chegu Bard said a meeting regarding the peaceful assembly would be held tonight by the secretariat, with several NGOs involved.
He said the details to be decided tonight involved the location, time, and several other matters, including the security aspects of the assembly.
"An announcement will be made by the secretariat tonight or as early as tomorrow to media partners," he said.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said all individuals called to give a statement had cooperated with the police.
He said all the information needed regarding the press conference held on Sunday was given.
When asked whether the police allowed the Selamatkan Malaysia Assembly, he said the peaceful assembly did not gain a permit; it was only an announcement.
He said the assembly would continue as it was a mass gathering session for many to celebrate Malaysia Day.
"We don't want to cause chaos, but gather those to celebrate Malaysia Day together in the heart of the city.
"Those attending will wear white and carry the Jalur Gemilang.
"Other than being together on this historical day, we will also eat together and celebrate Malaysia Day," he said.
